How to find a MAC address
By Castaway
Each device that your computer uses to 'talk' to other computers be they on a home network or over the phone lines to, say an Internet Service Provider (or ISP) has a MAC (or Media Access Control) address. Most computers are set up with two such devices, one for wireless connection the other for a wired (or ethernet) connection. If you are joining a computer to a secure network you will sometimes need to know its' MAC address.
So how to find the MAC address on a windows computer...
1. Click START then click Run
2. type 'cmd' then press 'ENTER' or click 'OK'
3. Assuming you have logged on as an administrator A black 'command line' window will appear
4. type 'ipconfig/all' then press 'ENTER'
5. You may have to scroll up the page but towards the top you will find one (possibly more) listings of 'Physical Address'. Something like 00-34-2D-4A-88-22. This line of letters and numbers is your computers MAC address. The first listed address is usually the one for wired (ethernet) the second (if listed) maybe for a wired or wireless connection.
6. Note down the MAC address you need and close the command line window
